2019 holds a lot of promise for horror movie fans with highly-anticipated titles such as Annabelle 3, IT: Chapter Two, In the Tall Grass, and Us all set for release during the course of the year. With so much horror movie viewing to look forward to, it is only fitting to make sure that you do it in style. Although watching a movie on the big screen certainly has its own appeal, nothing beats enjoying it in the comfort of your own home – or man cave. If having your own space that allows you to truly live out your love for horror movies appeals to you, it may be time to get your very own man cave complete with a state-of-the-art home entertainment system and awesome relics. Even if you are clueless about creating a den for yourself, a few basic guidelines will soon have you sitting back and watching American Horror Story reruns like a king.
Pick the right location
Whether you create your man cave inside your home or make use of one of the functional portable buildings that are fast gaining popularity is entirely up to you. If you do have a spare room in the home that you can soundproof and kit out to your heart’s content, you are in luck and should grab the opportunity with both hands. Even an attic or basement will be perfect, especially considering they are some of the least-frequented, private rooms in any homes. If you don’t have room to use inside the house, or if your partner does not share your enthusiasm for a horror-themed man cave, you can either renovate an existing garden shed to your liking or invest in a new one that meets with your requirements.
Get some cool furniture and props
There are countless ways in which you can decorate a horror-movie inspired man cave. Your décor can also be as demure or as extravagant as you want. One good decorating idea is to cover your walls in barn siding, adding a picture frame with an interesting print (from Jeepers Creepers or Leatherface perhaps) to depict a window looking out at an eerie-looking cornfield. Alternatively, paint three of your four walls black, choosing a bright red for the fourth. Classy, framed prints depicting scenes from your fave horror movies, together with replicas of popular movie props (such as masks and weapons) can transform even the dullest of rooms into a hair-raising sanctuary fit for a horror-movie fanatic.
Make sure you have the right tech
It is important to understand that the tech you invest in can either boost or ruin your overall man cave experience. If you want a good scare while watching horror movies in your man cave, you need a good TV and good sound. While a high-definition screen undoubtedly brings distressing imagery to life, it is the sound that evokes the strongest emotions. If you want to relish in every creaking floorboard, frightened whisper, and bone-chilling scream, you may want to consider investing in either a 5.1- or 7.1-channel surround sound system that will help render a truly bloodcurdling experience.
A good horror movie deserves to be watched in nothing but sheer comfort. Don’t waste any more time in kitting out a man cave in which you can spend countless hours doing the things, such as watching horror films, that makes you the happiest.
