Detective Bowden is still brokenhearted for his wife’s and son’s death from a hit-and-run five years before. He’s sent to investigate a suicidal person who jumped off from the top of a skyscraper onto a truck.
In the meantime five strangers are trapped in an elevator in the building where the jumper committed suicide. Communication in the elevator is out of order but the guards, watch the individuals via CCTV as events develop. Tensions in the elevator are high, so Lustig calls the police and Detective Bowden takes the case. With no way to contact the trapped persons he tries to work out who they are and realizes he can only account for four of them. Time is running out for the trapped in the elevator as Bowden realizes he has to get them out quickly.

Guy Woodhouse and his wife Rosemary move into a dream apartment, but they don’t know about the bad reputation of the building. They make friends with the neighbors which are an elderly couple named Roman and Minnie Castevet. Guy begins to spend a lot of time with them. Weird things start to happen like that of the mysterious death of a woman Rosemary meets in the washroom, Rosemary has strange dreams and starts to hear strange noises and Guy becomes remote and distant. Rosemary falls pregnant and she starts to suspect that her neighbors have special plans for her baby.

After Yoko didn’t show up for work, Karen Davis (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an American exchange Nurse-student living in Tokyo with her boyfriend. Karen is distressed by the old lady’s unusual behavior, she never talks and sleeps throughout the day. Karen fids out that the house is haunted by a curse, a curse that will kill anyone who enters the house. After numerous horrendous deaths, she finds herself locked in a race against time to save herself from the curse of the The Grudge.

They went into the Maryland woods on a two-day hike to find the Blair Witch, and never came back. A year after their disappearance, the student’s footage was found in the woods. The video was compiled and made into a movie.

The Thing

A group of Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog interrupt an American scientific expedition in Antarctica. The Norwegians helicopter that was chasing the dog crashes and both the pilot and shooter are killed, which leads to no explanation for the chase. The American Scientists give the dog shelter, but during the night it mutates, attacks other dogs in the cage and a members of the team. The scientist realizes that an alien life form with the skill to take over other bodies is on the loose so they can’t trust anybody, as anybody could be the alien.
Albert’s Review: “A great 80’s Horror movie, the story is quite entertaining and the effects are great considering the limitations they had in the 80’s.”

Malevolence

The movie’s story is based ten years after the kidnapping of Martin Bristol. Martin a six year old was taken from his backyard swing, he was not killed but forced to witness the disgusting crimes of a deranged madman. No one knew where Martin was taken. The story takes us to a bank robbery, which goes wrong for felons Julian, Marylin and Kurt. They spread out to meet up later at a vacant house in the middle of nowhere. Due to the circumstances they have to take Samantha and her young daughter Courtney as hostages. The group has no idea that the house they’ve chosen for their shelter is about to become a hunting ground with them as the prey.
Albert’s Review: “Cheesy sound effects and music + some unprofessional acting are tedious, but the story was ok.”

One Missed Call

Beth Raymond is horrified by the deaths of four of her friends. Three of them she personally witnessed, when they received disturbing phone calls apparently from themselves in the future which showed the exact time of their deaths. A small red candy is found in the victim’s mouth after they die. When Beth reports these weird occurrences to the police, they think she is delirious. The only one to believe her was Detective Jack Andrews, stating that his sister died in a similar way. Jack and Beth begin to unravel the mystery of these calls. Will they figure it out before Beth’s phone starts to ring the same creepy tune?
Albert’s Review: “One Missed Call is a remake of the Japanese horror film “Chakushin Ari”. To say the truth, I expected more but it’s still worth watching.”

After fighting with her boyfriend and a terrible car accident, Anna (Christina Ricci) wakes up in a funeral home where the local funeral director Eliot Deacon (Liam Neeson) is preparing her body for her funeral. Anna feels puzzled, frightened and feeling still alive. Anna still cannot believe she’s dead even though the funeral director reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife. He tells her he has the gift to communicate with the dead and is the only one who can help her. She’s trapped inside the funeral home, with nobody to turn to except Eliot, at this point Anna has to accept her own death. Paul (Justin Long) Anna’s boyfriend is still not convinced that she’s dead and he becomes suspicious of Eliot. Will Paul manage to find out if Anna is still alive or not?
