Extraordinary footage of a “ball of energy” captured on a home CCTV system has gone viral online.
The strange video, which shows an object that appears to display intelligent movement, has sparked a debate about what it could be.
The clip, that has been viewed thousands of times, was filmed on the front drive of a home in Peru, South America, on August 5.
Some viewers believe the glowing orb could be a spirit of a dead human being or even the initial manifestation of a ghost.
But others have even tried linking the capture to aliens and UFOs.
Scott C Waring, editor of ufosightingsdaily.com, blogged about the video, suggesting it could have an alien origin.
He wrote: “UFOs come in all shapes and sizes. Baseball size UFOs have been seen, reported and even photographed.
“I witnessed one four meters away once on a roof. This one is cloaked.
“The security cam is equipped with an infrared LED lights that allow it to see at night, but also can see anything that’s normally invisible to the naked eye, like this cloaked orb. Awesome catch.”
But other viewers were less impressed and did not think it was a paranormal sighting.
Daniel Silva posted on YouTube: “It’s a drone, or swamp gas or the planet Venus!”
Swamp gas is a common names for biogas which forms in wetlands, and is made up of methane with hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide as minor compositions.
Other sceptics say that these orbs, caught on camera before are just insects or dust that are reflecting against the camera.
