A SPEEDING driver who later admitted to taking drugs crashed into a second-floor office building. The white Nissan Altima was catapulted into the dentist’s office in Santa Ana, California, early on Sunday morning after hitting the road divider.

Witnesses told how the driver was able to escape from the car but hung from the bottom of the vehicle before being caught by police standing below.

Fire crews rescued the trapped passenger as officials used a front-loader to hold the car in place.

Both occupants were taken to hospital and were said to have escaped serious harm, only suffering minor injuries.

The dentist office was empty when the vehicle smashed into the building at about 5.30am.

Witness Daniel Sanchez said: “It was crazy. It really was.

“When it hit, a fire started and the driver got out and he hung from the bottom of the vehicle and when he did, the cops went out there and they caught him.”

Captain Stephen Horner, of the Orange County Fire Authority, said: “This is not a situation that happens every day.

“A vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed hit the centre divider, went airborne and landed on the second floor of a small office building.”

He said the car was not travelling parallel to the divider and appeared to come out from a side street.

The driver admitted to police he had taken drugs and officers said he will be “admitted to a local hospital for observation”.

Fire crews used a crane to pull the car from the building.
